About Us

 

 The Mount Dora Historical Society is a qualified non-profit educational organization 501 (c)(3) and fully recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.  We provide reciepts for donations, contributions, gift of services and in-kind donations.

 

The Mount Dora Historical Society was created in 1959 and has offered the following services:

 

  • Since 1978 it has operated the Mount Dora History Museum located at 450 Royellou Lane.
  • It has been a learning annex available to local schools for on-site or classroom teaching
  • It has been a repository and educational resource of Mount Dora artifacts and photos.
  • It has offered homesteader and early resident history.
  • A source of living history reenactments

1-4 pm,

Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

                Some services we offer:

 

  • Mt. Dora living history presentations  through oratory, photographic displays, and period dress.
  • Guided Mount Dora Walking or Driving Tours with pre-tour presentation (2 weeks notice required)       
  • Old Mount Dora Ghost walks available 1st and 3rd Friday and Saturday  of each month
  • Limited military portrayals/reenactments of periods: Civil War, Spanish American War,Seminole War (2nd), World War II, Vietnam War.                                                           Advance notice of 60 days required for these periods.
