Chautauqua was an adult entertainment movement in the United States highly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The above advertiment mentions a "warm room" as a lure to get attendees.

Mount Dora was a VERY popular destination for Chautauqua activities! We have a collection of programs for these events as well as several photos in the exhibit.

 

Our museum is located on Royellou Lane down the alley between Donnelly and Baker Streets.

We are pleased to have recently accepted donations from several community members. Do you have something you might be interested in donating? Please contact the museum!

While you visit, explore and learn about the building's history as a fire station and jail.
